Emerge New Mexico Selects 25 Women Yearly for its Training Program

With several decades of experience in law, attorney Kathy Love works as a partner with the law firm McGinn, Carpenter, Montoya & Love based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Attorney Kathleen “Kathy” Love supports Emerge New Mexico, where she is a board member and helps Democratic women run for public office.

Emerge New Mexico identifies and trains women to run for public office, get elected, and seek higher offices. Founded in 2006, Emerge New Mexico spearheads a seven-month training program for potential politicians and has trained more than 1,800 women since its inception.

Each year, Emerge New Mexico seeks 25 self-motivated women who are committed to ethical and effective political leadership. Applicants must live in New Mexico and be registered Democrats. Typically the organization selects its class members by April of each year. Other qualifications include: interest in securing a spot in political office; ability to inspire others; experience of leadership or community involvement; and a desire to establish effective communication networks.
