Selection Process for Super Lawyers

Albuquerque, New Mexico-based attorney Kathleen “Kathy” Love brings more than 20 years of legal experience to her role as partner at McGinn, Carpenter, Montoya and Love. Kathy Love’s legal expertise has been recognized by several professional organizations, among them Super Lawyers, a rating service for exceptional attorneys.

Selection for Super Lawyers entails a four-step process. First, individuals become candidates through nomination by a peer or by the Super Lawyers’ research department. If lawyers receive nominations from within their firms, each such nomination must be matched by another nomination from outside the firm. Super Lawyers takes steps to ensure that all nominations are merited.

In the second step, the candidates are evaluated by the research team at Super Lawyers, and in the third step, the candidates undergo peer evaluation by colleagues within their practice areas. The fourth step is final selection, which involves checking each candidate’s licenses and confirming the information within candidates’ profiles. No more than the top 5 percent of lawyers within a state are recognized as Super Lawyers.
